Small Changes with a Big Impact
03.03.2026
Our team is driven by the ambition to preserve and create new life into every fragment of Bulgaria’s rich folk heritage. Through in-depth research of authentic sources, ethnographic studies, and additional literature, we strive to recreate our characters in a way that remains as faithful as possible to their origins. Our goal is not simply to create a video game, but to fully immerse players in the mystical and distinctive magic of Bulgarian legends. This is why we present these small but meaningful changes through the detailed construction of our 3D models and their surrounding environments, aiming to reach a level where legends become a living reality.
We completely transformed the atmosphere inside the „Devil’s Throat“ cave in order to convey the oppressive yet majestic presence of the Sheitan. Our technical process began with precise photogrammetry of the location itself, allowing us to capture the natural textures and rock formations with photorealistic accuracy. We then integrated additional demonic elements that strengthen the mystical tone of the level.
The model of the devil himself underwent a full metamorphosis. We chose the imposing image of a black goat standing on two legs. This design combines archaic beliefs about his appearance with a modern visual style, emphasizing both his power and his ancient nature.
The Kikimora proved to be one of the most complex challenges for our art team. Since visual references in contemporary art are extremely limited, we turned to the earliest literary descriptions. The result is a unique model of a hybrid figure, half human and half hen, exactly as described in old folklore accounts.
Beyond the visual aspect, we are currently developing specific sound effects (SFX) and unique interaction systems. Our goal is for players to sense her presence through sound before they ever see her, creating tension and unpredictability.
In Bulgarian mythology, Vechernitsa symbolizes the arrival of the night and is considered the celestial sister of the Sun. To express this duality, we created a visual design dominated by deep nocturnal tones. At the same time, we introduced fiery elements and burning eyes to highlight her solar origin and dynamic nature. This visual contrast hints at her divine essence and reveals the inner flame hidden beneath the veil of darkness.
Zmeys are among the most powerful animalistic creatures in Bulgarian folklore, and we wanted him to possess a scale worthy of that legacy, one that commands the player’s respect. One of the defining elements we focused on is his unique combat mechanic. Each of his heads functions as an independent unit with its own targeting system and attack algorithm. This adds a strategic layer to the encounter, as players must analyze and react to the movements of each head individually in order to survive this epic confrontation.

2. Kikimora: Designing the „Invisible“
The Kikimora proved to be one of the most complex challenges for our art team. Since visual references in contemporary art are extremely limited, we turned to the earliest literary descriptions. The result is a unique model of a hybrid figure, half human and half hen, exactly as described in old folklore accounts.

3. Vechernitsa (Sister of the Sun): Symbolism and Visual Contrast
4. Zmeys: Gameplay Mechanics and Scale
Zmeys are among the most powerful animalistic creatures in Bulgarian folklore, and we wanted him to possess a scale worthy of that legacy, one that commands the player’s respect.
